The ANI itself does not constitute an Autonomic Network, but it allows the building of more or less Autonomic Networks on top of it, using either centralized automation in SDN style (see " Software-Defined Networking (SDN): Layers and Architecture Terminology " [ RFC7426 ] ) or distributed automation via Autonomic Service Agents (ASA) and/or Autonomic Functions (AF), or a mixture of both.
