In a perfect world, Zcash would enforce shielded z → z transactions and Monero would upgrade to FCMP++ , with both enforcing mandatory non-clearnet connections. To protect against theoretical Sybil de-anonymization and DoS attacks, we would need to choose at least one honest and trusted peer, similar to using clearnet, with the only difference being that we wouldn't leak our real IP address and would have the opportunity to run a non-deterministic hidden remote full node.
